Water Education Resources

The South Dakota Discovery Center offers the following resources for water education.

Small Grants for GLOBE materials

20151106_094044Teachers and out-of-school program leaders are invited to apply for a minigrant of up to $750 to reimburse purchases of tools and supplies to implement GLOBE in the classroom.

  • Applicants must be GLOBE trained.
  • Applicants must enter data into the database within a calendar year of receiving the grant.

Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis, on the change of the season. Funding notifications will be provided within 10 days.

No purchases made before notification will be reimbursed.


Water Festivals

Start up funds are available to bring a water festival, a hands-on learning event for 4th graders, to your community. Some limitations apply.Water Festivals


Learn how to do or improve your water presentations for classrooms and youth. Project WET is an internationally recognized curriculum that has trained thousands of educators to implement hands-on learning about water. The Leopold Education Project is a resource for understanding watershed conservation.

World Water Monitoring Challenge

Bring introductory water quality monitoring to your community’s schools, Scout groups, 4H clubs and other youth organization through the World Water Monitoring Challenge.

Kits are available on a limited basis to educators who work with Grades 3-8.

Project WET Materials Discount

Request a discount on Project WET materials (South Dakota only. The coordinator discount will be passed along to agencies and organizations ordering Project WET publication through the SD Discovery Center. Shipping charges apply. Available only to South Dakota audiences.  Please contact Anne Lewis.
